The Listening Room Concert Series was created in response to both artists and
audiences, who shared with me their desire for a performance setting where the song is the true focus
of attention, without the distractions found in many conventional venues.

Something powerful happens when we stop to listen in focused attention to music, theatre, spoken word, art,
nature and our own inner voice. I believe within that space, great sustenance and healing energy can be found,
and have sought to bring that opportunity to others through these events.

The artists gathered on this series are part of a vibrant international community of performers who travel
the world building their audience base, often 'beneath the radar' of a largely indifferent mainstream music industry.

Audience members are regularly astonished at the level of talent flowing from the 'unknown artists' on these shows,
and while a limited few go on to rise to international recognition, like past participants
Dan Bern, Tina Dickow, Lisa Loeb, Ellis Paul, Ron Sexsmith, Teitur, Juliet Turner, Dar Williams, etc.,
most are known primarily to audiences who actively seek out this level of quality musical experience
through the internet, public radio, folk clubs, coffee houses, home concerts and festivals.

These modern performing songwriters are a continuation of the troubadour tradition, hailing from a lineage which
stretches back to Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie and beyond to the earliest minstrels and tribal 'songcatchers'.

It's been my honor over the years to present some of the most legendary songwriters of our age, during
my years with the National Academy of Songwriters and beyond, including Burt Bacharach, Jeff Barry,
Alan & Marilyn Bergman, Jackson Browne, Livingston & Evans, Gamble & Huff, Joni Mitchell, Randy Newman,
Graham Nash & Stephen Stills, Leiber & Stoller and many more....

I invite you to come out and give yourself the gift of great original music, performed by the folks who created it.
